I thought I was going to be working on this issue all day by the previous posts.
I shut down the client and ran a file I keep on my desktop called 'KillNotes'. It's an exe file I picked up here somewhere I think. It said it killed 3 processes. After that I restarted the computer, fired up client and then designer and so far working fine.
I usually use this file when I've jibbled notes and it won't restart without a reboot. You can avoid the reboot and run this file to kill the processes.
